What happens when a team subscription lapses
Team features pause, nobody loses any data, and only the owner can turn them back on. Here is exactly what pauses and what keeps running.
When a coach plan stops being active, the team goes read-only and the premium tier it was paying for switches off. Nothing is deleted at any point, and resubscribing turns everything back on as it was.
A plan lapses when the owner cancels and the paid period runs out, when a payment fails, or when a trial finishes without a payment method going through.
What stops working
The team features pause for everyone except the owner viewing their own account:
- Viewing the team page
- Editing the team name, description, or logo
- Sending invitations, and seeing the ones already pending
- Changing a member's role
- Opening a member's scans, including the View Scans action
The premium tier pauses alongside them, so members work from the free plan for anything they create next: 1 base resume, no DOCX export, and no live match scoring.
What still works
- Every account stays open. Nobody is locked out of SkillSyncer.
- All data stays put. Resumes, scans, job trackers, and excluded keywords are untouched, for the owner and for every member.
- Members can leave. Leaving stays available on a lapsed team so that nobody is held on a plan that is no longer running.
- Owners can remove members. Roster cleanup stays open so you can size the team before you resubscribe.
- Owners can delete the team. Deleting works whether or not the plan is running.
What the owner sees
At Settings, then Subscription, the owner gets Your coach plan subscription is not active., along with Premium team features are not available. and Resubscribe to a coach plan to restore access for you and your team members.
The coach plan picker sits on that same page, already switched to coach plans, so restarting the plan does not mean hunting for it.
At Settings, then Team, the team page is replaced by the same message, and the invitations page reads Team invitations are disabled because your coach plan subscription is not active.
What a member sees
A member gets Your team does not have an active paid plan., with Premium team features are not available. and To get your own premium plan, you must first leave the team.
That second line explains why there is no purchase button on their page: a member cannot buy an individual plan while they belong to a team, so they would have to leave first, and leaving also takes their scans out of their coach's view. Waiting for the owner to resubscribe is usually the better move.
Turning it back on
The owner resubscribes from Settings, then Subscription, using the coach plan picker on that page. Access returns for the whole team as soon as the payment goes through, and the team comes back exactly as it was, with the same members, the same roles, and the same scans.
Because the membership records were never removed, there is nobody to re-invite.
Canceling on purpose
If you cancel, the plan runs to the end of the billing cycle you already paid for. The Subscription page swaps the green Renews badge for a red Ends badge showing that date, and marks the plan Canceled.
Everything keeps working until the date arrives, and until then you can undo the cancellation with Resume, which reactivates the plan on its original billing cycle.
Coach plan owners also get a Manage button that opens the Stripe billing portal for invoices, plan changes, and cancellation.
Deleting the team is not a way to cancel. Billing continues after a team is deleted, so cancel the plan at Settings, then Subscription, and treat the two as separate actions.
What does not happen
No account is closed, no resume is deleted, no scan is removed, and no member is dropped from the roster. A lapsed plan turns features off and leaves everything else in place, which is why resubscribing restores the team rather than rebuilds it.
