Section order and presets

The 4 ordering presets and what each puts first, plus dragging your own order and renaming sections.

Section order is set in the Details tab, above the section list. It takes one click if a preset fits, or a few seconds of dragging if not.

Your order comes from your uploaded file to begin with. We read where each heading appeared in the original and keep that order, so a resume that already led with Education still leads with Education.

The presets

Open the Section order... dropdown. There are four presets, and each one rewrites the whole order in a single click:

Entry Level / New Graduate Summary, Education, Skills, Projects, Experience, Certificates, Volunteer, Awards, Publications, Languages, Interests, References.

Mid-Career Professional Summary, Experience, Skills, Education, Projects, Certificates, Awards, Publications, Volunteer, Languages, Interests, References.

Senior / Executive Summary, Experience, Skills, Projects, Education, Awards, Certificates, Publications, Volunteer, Languages, Interests, References.

Career Changer Summary, Skills, Projects, Experience, Education, Certificates, Volunteer, Awards, Publications, Languages, Interests, References.

All four follow the same principle: lead with your strongest evidence. Early in a career that is your degree and what you have built, and later it is what you have shipped and who you shipped it for. If you are changing field, the skills that transfer come first, because your last job title argues against you.

Once you change anything by hand, the dropdown reads Custom, which is a label describing where you are rather than a preset you can pick.

Dragging your own order

Grab the handle on any section in the list and move it. The preview updates the moment you drop it, so you can judge the new order against the real page.

Two things stay fixed: Profiles is pinned to the top, and sections that are not user-editable cannot be dragged out of the resume.

Renaming a section

Click a section's name in the list to rename it, up to 60 characters.

This changes the heading printed on your resume, not what the section is. Renaming Experience to "Relevant Experience" or Skills to "Technical Skills" keeps all the scoring behavior attached to it.

Keep renames conventional. An ATS keys off familiar heading names, and "Adventures So Far" is a heading a machine has to guess at.

Set your order once, even if you like the default

A resume that has never had its order set explicitly falls back to a default order, which is fine on screen but leaves the arrangement of Volunteer, Awards, Certificates, and Publications up to that fallback.

Picking a preset, or dragging any one section, writes your order down, and the editor and the DOCX export both follow what is written down. If you use any of those four sections, spend the click before you export.
