Set a job's status
What each status means, where to change it, and how it relates to the board.
Every job has a status of its own. It is what your dashboard counts, and it is separate from which column the job happens to sit in.
The statuses
- Watchlist Interested, not applied yet.
- Applied Application submitted.
- Interview In the interview process.
- Offer An offer is on the table.
- Ghosted No response, and you have stopped expecting one.
- Not Selected You were turned down, or withdrew.
- Other Anything that does not fit the above.
- None No status set.
Where to change it
The status is editable in several places, and they all change the same value:
- The Status column on the Job Scans page. On narrow screens this shows as a colored dot, hover it to see the label.
- The job information panel when you open a job.
- The header of a job tailored resume in the builder.
How it relates to your board
Dragging a job into a column can set its status for you, if that column has a status assigned. That is a convenience, not a rule: the status stays on the job, so you can always override it afterwards and it will stick.
This is why Ghosted does not need a column. It is a status you set, and no board has to have somewhere to put it.
It also means jobs that are not on any board still count. See Jobs that are not in a tracker.
Finding jobs by status
On the Job Scans page you can filter by status, sort by it, and search for it. Searching for "interview" finds jobs at that stage as well as jobs with it in the title.
