What a scan costs

A scan costs 1 credit every time, whichever type you pick, so a Smart Scan and a Classic Scan come to the same thing.

The credit is spent at the moment the scan runs. Everything you do afterwards is free: reading the report again, editing your resume inside the scan, and watching your score update as you type.

How the weekly credits arrive

Your 2 credits land once a week on the same weekday you signed up, and the account menu tells you which day as "2 free scans every day".

They accumulate rather than reset, so a fortnight without scanning leaves you with 4 credits waiting rather than 2. Accumulation stops at 10, which is the ceiling for a free account.

Where to see your balance

Your account menu shows Scans Left with your current number. When you are running low the scan form tells you before you commit a credit, including how many you have left this week, so you are never surprised by an empty balance mid-flow.

When you run out

You cannot create a new scan until your next weekly credits arrive or you upgrade. Premium removes the limit entirely: "Scan every job you apply to, with no weekly limit."

Everything you have already scanned stays exactly where it was. Running out of credits limits new scans, not access to your existing reports.

Scan credits are not AI credits

These are two separate allowances, spent on two different things.

  • Scan credits pay to run a job scan. 2 a week on free, unlimited on Premium.
  • AI credits pay for the AI writing tools, such as auto-optimize. They are a separate weekly allowance with its own balance.

Running out of one has no effect on the other, so an empty AI balance still leaves you able to scan. See the AI Tools collection for how AI credits work.

Do scans expire?

No. Scans are never expired and never pruned, so a report you ran a year ago is still there to open. Deleting one is a choice you make, and deleting it does not return the credit.
