Changing your password, email, or name
Your name and password take about 20 seconds to change in Settings, and your email address is handled by support. Here is how each one works.
Your name and your password are both editable in Settings, and each change takes about 20 seconds. Your email address works differently, and that is covered at the bottom.
Changing your name
- Go to Settings, then Profile.
- Edit First name and Last name.
- Click Save.
Those two fields are the only ones on the profile you can change. The name here identifies your account rather than your resume, so editing it does not touch the name printed at the top of anything you have created.

Changing your password while you are signed in
- Go to Settings, then Password.
- Fill in New Password and Confirm Password.
- Click Update Password.
A password has to be at least 8 characters and no more than 128, and the two fields have to match each other before the change will save.
Resetting a password you have forgotten
On the sign-in page, click Forgot your password?, enter your email address, and click Send. The link in the email takes you to a page where you set a new password.
The confirmation you see is the same whether or not that address has an account with us, which is deliberate: it stops anyone using the form to work out who has an account here. The practical upshot is that an email which never arrives usually means you signed up with a different address rather than that the reset failed, so it is worth checking your other inboxes before you try again.
A reset link stops working once it has been used or has gone stale. When that happens, request a fresh one instead of clicking through the older email.

Changing your email address
You cannot change your email address yourself. The field on the profile page is there for reference and is deliberately read only, so there is no form to hunt for.
Email support@skillsyncer.com and tell us the address you want it moved to. Send it from the address currently on the account, so we can see the request is yours.
What else lives on your account
- Your email address, which is handled by support as above.
- Your timezone. Your account stores one, and it decides the moment your weekly AI credits reset. It is not something you pick in the app, so if your credits refresh at an hour you were not expecting, that is why.
- A profile photo. Your account does not use one anywhere in the app.
Staying signed in
A session lasts 2 hours of inactivity and survives closing the browser, so on your own machine you will usually come back to a tab that is still signed in rather than a login screen.
If you are being signed out more often than that, see Why can't I log in?.
