Deleting your account and your data
Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Two things are worth doing first, and this is exactly what is removed when you confirm.
Deleting your account cannot be undone. Your resumes, your scans, and your excluded keywords are removed for good, and there is no restore path on our side.
The deletion itself takes about 30 seconds, and there are two things worth settling before you start.
Before you delete
1. If you own a team, delete the team first. A team is its own object rather than part of your personal account, so clear it up while you still have access to it. Go to Settings, then Team, delete the team there, and come back here afterwards.
2. If you have an active subscription, decide when. Deleting cancels your subscription immediately, not at the end of the billing period, and the remainder of a period you have already paid for is not refunded.
That is the one part of this worth timing. If you want to use the days you have paid for, cancel first, let the period run out, and delete afterwards. See Canceling your subscription.

What is removed
These are deleted outright, with no undo:
- Every resume, base resumes and tailored versions alike
- Every scan and match report
- Your excluded keywords list
- Any connected social sign-in, so signing in with Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn stops working
- Your membership of any team you belonged to
The account record itself is not destroyed along with your content. Your name and email address on it are replaced with placeholder values, your password is scrambled, and the account is marked as deleted so it can never be signed into again.
That matters for one practical reason: your old email address is released. Signing up again later with the same address gives you a brand new, empty account, and nothing from the old one comes back with it.
What is kept, and why
The stripped account record stays behind. It holds no name, no email address, no password, and none of your work, which means there is nothing left on it that points back to you.
It is kept deliberately, for three reasons.
- Billing history. Payments already taken have to remain accounted for.
- Aggregate statistics. Counts of accounts and scans over time stay correct rather than silently rewriting themselves whenever somebody leaves.
- Fraud prevention. Repeated abuse from deleted accounts is otherwise invisible.
The distinction worth holding on to is that your content is gone and the accounting is not. Resumes, scans, and reports are destroyed, and what survives is a row of numbers that no longer describes a person.
If you do not see Delete Account in Settings
The entry is hidden on admin accounts, which cannot be deleted from inside the app. Team members can still delete their own accounts, though the point above applies if you happen to own the team.
Downloading your work first
Resumes download one at a time, so save each one you want to keep as a PDF before you delete anything. DOCX export is part of Premium, which means the editable copies have to come down before your subscription ends rather than after.
Questions this article does not answer
How your data is handled while your account is open is a separate subject, and this article does not cover it.
