Removing a member, leaving a team, and what happens to their data
Removing someone deletes nothing they own. They keep their account, their resumes, and their scan history, and they lose the premium access the team was paying for.
Removing someone from a team deletes nothing they own. Their account, their resumes, their scan history, and their excluded keywords all stay exactly where they are, under their control, because removal detaches a membership rather than closing an account.
What they lose is the premium access your plan was paying for.
Removing a member
Removal takes effect the moment you choose it, so confirm you are on the right person's row first.
- Go to Settings, then Team Members.
- Open the row menu next to the person.
- Choose Remove Member.
Their seat is free again straight away and can go to the next person you invite. Owners and Super Coaches can remove members, since those are the roles that manage the roster.

Leaving a team yourself
Go to Settings, then Team, and use Leave Team. A confirmation dialog titled Leave Team? appears and points out that rejoining takes a fresh invitation, so leaving is not something you can undo on your own.
Confirm and you land on the dashboard with You have left the team.
The page states the trade before you go: your premium benefits from the team are forfeited, and you still retain access to your data.
The owner is the exception here. An owner who tries to leave gets You may not leave a team that you created. The team is tied to the account that made it, so an owner who wants out deletes the team instead.
What the person keeps
They keep everything they made, since removal detaches the membership and touches nothing else.
- Base resumes, with all their content, layouts, and templates
- Every scan and its report
- Their excluded keywords
- Their job trackers and saved jobs
- Their account, sign-in, and settings
Nothing transfers to the coach either. A client's work never becomes the team's work, which is the same boundary described in What a coach can and cannot see in a member's account.
What the person loses
They lose the premium tier that came with the seat. Unless they hold their own subscription, they move to the free plan: 2 job match scans a week rolling up to a maximum of 10, 10 AI credits a week, 1 base resume, PDF export, and no live match scoring or DOCX export.
Their existing resumes and scans stay readable, because the free limits govern what they create next rather than what they already have.
Rejoining
Removal is not a suspension, so bringing someone back is a normal invitation. Send a fresh one from Team Invites and they accept it the same way they did the first time. See Inviting members, and what they see when they join.
Deleting the whole team
Only the owner can delete a team, and the option is there whether or not the subscription is active. Go to Settings, then Team, and use Delete Team.
Every member is detached and the team is gone, while everyone keeps their individual account and all of their data, exactly as with a single removal. Deletion cannot be undone, so rebuilding means creating a new team and inviting everyone again.
Deleting the team does not stop your billing. Cancel the coach plan separately at Settings, then Subscription, using Cancel. Do that before you delete the team, while the plan you are on is still in front of you.
If you are closing your SkillSyncer account
Work through the team first. Cancel the coach plan, then delete the team, then close the account, because deleting your account leaves a team you own in place along with its members.
The order matters for billing as well. Account deletion cancels subscriptions immediately rather than at the end of the period, and purchases are non-refundable, so closing mid-cycle gives up the rest of the time you paid for.
